NLG-SFBA | Committees

International Committee

The NLG-SFBA’s International Committee engages NLG members and partner organizations in monitoring human rights abuses and fighting against the persecution of political prisoners in other parts of the world.

The priorities of the committee will evolve overtime in response to the needs of anti-imperialist organizations and movements. Most immediately, the following priorities have been identified:

  1. Political Prisoners & Repression
    • Documenting conditions and fact finding.
    • Potential coordination for AI/int’l hr locally
    • Anti-terrorist laws and implementation locally.
    • Role for lawyers in speaking out on int’l abuses and representation of in’l activists locally.
  2. Police/Military collaboration
    • Local police outposts from other places.
  3. Terrorist Organization List
    • Complaints against right-wing groups targeting third world liberation groups locally.
  4. Always leveraging our name/legal input to add power to your struggles, campaigns, etc.
    • Mobilize people more locally for testimony, letters, solidarity
    • Provide California Public Records Act (CPRA) Trainings that int’l solidarity orgs can utilize
    • Bring more of the Bay work to the national and vice versa.
