NLG Organizes Law Student Day Against the Death Penalty

Local Law Students Host Debate, Discussions

March 1st marks the NLG's annual Law Student Day Against the Death Penalty. Events are planned throughout the nation. Locally, students at the University of San Francisco School of Law will host a debate between Elizabeth Zitrin of Amensty International and Kent Schneidegger of the California Justice Legal Foundation. New College School of Law students are hosting a panel discussion with speakers from Death Penalty Focus and the California Appellate Project.

Immigrant Communities Demand An End to Immigration Raids

"ICE agents left hundreds of families traumatized and living in fear after trampling through our neighborhoods and homes randomly arresting and deporting loved ones," declared Larisa Casillas, director of the Bay Area Immigrant Rights Coalition, announcing the beginning of a Bay Area wide week of actions in which dozens of organizations will be mobilizing to demand an end to the practice of immigration raids.

Race to Execution Film Screening

San Francisco The National Lawyers Guild of the San Francisco Bay Area (NLGSF) condemns the arrests and prosecution of eight men believed to be former members of the Black Liberation Army as an attempt to validate political repression, retaliation and state torture. A court hearing is scheduled for February 14 at 9:00 a.m. at the Superior Court, 850 Bryant Street in San Francisco.
