The Guild’s annual Staying True to Your Roots CLE

Join your colleagues and friends for the National Lawyers Guild’s 6th Annual Staying True to Your Roots program, a day of inspiring and useful continuing legal education taught by leading advocates in the fields of social justice lawyering and legal work. On-site lunch is $15. Law students can attend for free but will be asked to pay for their lunches. *No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The Guild’s annual Staying True to Your Roots CLE day will be held in San Francisco on January 19, 2018 at the Practising Law Institute, 685 Market St # 100, San Francisco. Confirmed panels/speakers include:

Mindfulness Training for Progressive Lawyers (Presented by Emily Doskow and Demarris Evans) This panel will provide one hour of general CLE credit.

Addiction and the Legal Profession: Prevention, Detection and Treatment (Presented by David Mann) This panel will provide one and a half hours of CLE credit for prevention, detection and treatment of substance abuse or mental illness.

Keynote: Jay Kim, the incoming Executive Director of the SF NLG chapter.

Networking lunch Newer attorneys and law students will have a chance to chat with more experienced practitioners about their particular fields.

Juries in the Age of Trump (Panelists include Jeff Adachi, Karen Jo Koonan, Steve McDonald, and Bobby Shukla) This panel will provide two hours of CLE credit for elimination of bias in the legal profession.

The Ethics of Balancing Left Politics with Clients That Don’t Always Live Up to Them: Views from the Labor, Criminal Defense, and Immigration Bars (Presented by Dale Brodsky and Daniel Mayfield, among others) This panel will provide one hour of CLE credit for ethics.
