Demo Defense 101: a CLE training for lawyers and legal activists

This training on defending demonstrators is intended for new lawyers, civil lawyers, legal workers and activists involved in legal, court and jail support work, and law students. You will learn about legal visits and jail release procedures, the criminal process, defending persons charged with misdemeanors, infractions or federal petty offenses in San Francisco and Alameda County, and working with the NLG and the Public Defender offices in both counties.

3 hours MCLE credit available for lawyers and paralegals. $50 suggested donation for lawyers getting credit. No one turned away for lack of funds. All others, including paralegals getting credit, free. Please register at the link above and support our demonstrations work!

Presenters include NLG criminal defense attorneys Gabriela Lopez, Mark Vermeulen, and Tennille Duffy, and Deputy Public Defenders Kate Raven (Alameda County) and Andrea Lindsey (San Francisco).
