Working With & Empowering Traumatized Minors

Presented by Social Justice Collaborative and Co-Sponsored by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild.

Join us on Wednesday, November 19th from 12:00pm-1:30pm at 475 14th Street (ground floor large conference room) in downtown Oakland to hear from professionals with over 20 years of experience in the field of working with child victims of torture.

We will be offering 1.5 hours of MCLE credit. All pro-bono and low-bono attorneys are welcome to attend.

This seminar will address the concerns of attorneys working with traumatized youth. Topics covered with include how to best support youth who have endured torture and abuse, how to empower them, and how to acknowledge their resilience, as well as best interviewing practices.

About the Presenters:

Amana Ayoub is a senior staff psychologist at the Center for Survivors of Torture. She is an expert in child survivors of violence.

Naomi Schapiro is a clinical professor and Project Director of UCSF's Elev8 Healthy Students & Families. Her research focuses on Latino youth and teaches courses at UCSF on child maltreatment and adolescent health.
