2008 NLG Elections

Local and national NLG elections will take place this October. If you are interested in running for the Executive Board or for one of the national officer positions, please take a look at the rules and information. Some deadlines are as early as September.

Bay Area Elections

National Elections

During the Saturday plenary at the NLG Convention, October 16-19, 2008, in Detroit, Michigan, elections will be held for the following national officers: President, One Executive Vice President, One National Vice President, One Treasurer, and One National Law Student Vice President.

The details are as follows:

All candidates, except for the National Law Student Vice President, must declare their intention to run by submitting a written statement of no more than 500 words no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2008. There will be no nominations accepted from the floor. Candidates are encouraged to submit their statements in electronic form as soon as possible so that they can be posted on the NLG website. Candidates who submit their electronic statement by Thursday, October 9, will have their statements distributed in convention registration packets. All candidates who submit their statements after that date must provide 400 copies to the convention registration desk. Email your statement to nlgno@nlg.org and please write “candidate statement” in the subject line.

At the Student Caucus, elections will be held for the following national officer:

One National Law Student Vice President. There are two National Law Student Vice Presidents who each serve a two-year term. The newly elected National Law Student Vice President will serve on the Executive Council (EC) in the second year of his or her term. Service on the Executive Council involves near-daily communication by email.
