NLGSF Publishes Know Your Rights Resources for the Transgender Community

The National Lawyers Guild, San Francisco Chapter is proud to announce the 2010 Transgender Know Your Rights resources!

Manuals are now available on the National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Bay Area Chapter website. These materials are designed to help transgender individuals in San Francisco get information about four areas of law that uniquely and disproportionately affect transgender communities: employment, immigration, housing, and criminal law.

The manuals are a good first stop for information for transgender individuals and their advocates, including social services providers, or legal workers looking for a starting point. In addition to providing substantive legal information, these manuals emphasize local and national transgender-inclusive resources.

These materials are specific to San Francisco, but include information that is a helpful for residents in the greater Bay Area and state of California, and can be a useful starting point for individuals in other states, particularly where federal law applies.

National Lawyers Guild chapters interested in creating Transgender Know Your Rights manuals for their local communities are encouraged to download the toolkit on the website. We will provide assistance to chapters that want to make their own materials for transgender communities in other cities and states.

Manuals can be downloaded now on our resources page.
