Immigration Committee
The Immigration Committee meets monthly as a full committee or as one of its subcommittees. It is presently investigating conduct by the Department of Homeland Security at Bay Area airports and tackling the mistreatment of Latin American immigrants labeled as “gang members” by law enforcement.
The Committee has a regular liaison with the Bay Area Immigrant Rights Coalition and has actively opposed recent legislation in Congress to limit immigration, criminalize immigrants and further militarize the border between the U.S. and Mexico.
